Dear young artists and parents, Welcome to the 2008 GVCM Festival! I hope that your studies and preparation for the upcoming festival are going well. I urge you to be prepared for the coachings, so as to gain more from your chamber experience this summer. As a reminder, the festival dates are August 11 to 17. This is an important document. Please, print a copy of the following message for your reference. Also, please download and print the 2008 GVCM Handbook. There, you will find many details pertaining to this year’s festival, as well as all recital dates. Also, The attached GVCM Handbook 2008 will provide you with most answers to questions you might have (parking, directions, etc.). -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Our orientation will happen at 8:30 am, on Monday, August 11th, at UNLV, in the Ham Fine Arts building HFA room #147. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- We will all meet there every day, from Monday August 11 to Friday August 15, at 8:30 am. Announcements and possible materials to be distributed will be made/handed at that time. Please, be on time. Your coachings will start immediately after that daily meeting. August 16 (Sat.) and 17 (Sun.) will follow a different schedule due to the two young artist recitals (on Sat. 8/16 at 3 pm and 7 pm), and the gala orchestral recital of Sunday August 17 at 3 pm. The YO Recitals will be in Rando Recital Hall, in the Beam Music Center Building, while the Orchestra will perform in Ham Hall. The schedule below will be valid from Monday August 11 to Friday August 15. 8:30 Student arrive on campus and meet in Room HFA 147 (where they leave their lunch boxes – GVCM requires that young student stay in room 147 for their lunch, therefore, please bring your lunch boxes) 9:00 AM period 1 chamber group coaching 9:50 AM period 2 chamber group coaching 10:40 AM period 3 chamber group coaching 11:30 AM period 4 chamber group coaching 12:20 PM lunch HFA 147 1:00 PM period 5 chamber group coaching 1:50 PM period 6 piano lessons/master class, cello choir, violin sectional 2:40 PM Orchestra rehearsal with Taras Krysa (pianists do not need to stay on campus but are welcome to attend) 4:30 PM FESTIVAL DAY ENDS Additional information about the schedule and details about groups and the like will be announced at the first meeting, on Monday, August 11, at 8:30 am, in room HFA 147. All young artists will perform in one of the three concerts described above. Pianists will not take part in the gala recital but their presence is mandatory.
